Yesterday's appointment went much better than our appointment last week. We had our ultrasound and she is getting "big"...but not too big, apparently. Right now, they estimate her to weigh close to 8 lbs 3 oz, which puts her in the 73rd percentile! That's a pretty big jump from our last u/s estimate when she was in the 35th, haha.
The good news is that the doctor didn't mention scheduling an induction. Phew! Dodged that bullet! At least for the time being. He said that he could "feel that noggin" dropping on down and that my body is finally showing some signs of labor coming!
Today, I'm going to walk, walk, walk and try the "Jump Start Your Labor" cookie recipe that someone passed along.
While I don't necessarily want her birthday to be today (April 15, Tax Day) it would be fine if I went into labor and she came tomorrow. April 16 sounds like a good birthday to me!

First Day of Maternity Leave
So today I....
1. Went to water aerobics :) That was fun! It feels good to be in the pool and feel so weightless. The sweet ladies in class were funny too. They were all worried that I would go into labor any minute.
2. Enjoyed the sunshine a bit on our porch when I got home. It was nice, but I think my neck and back may have gotten a little toasty. I'll have to wear sunscreen if I go out tomorrow.
3. Made Britt a yummy lunch :) I like being home on the weekdays so we can eat together.
4. Finished drying and ironing the covers that go on our living room chairs. They had pollen on them from last week when we left the windows open.
5. Went to the chiropractor, library, and Wal-Mart. I figured it couldn't hurt to have everything nice and in alignment this week. I checked out a new Jodi Picoult book. I can usually get through those pretty quickly. Then I just picked up some detergent and such.
Britt and I watched House together, and he's putting our swing together now :)

Maternity Leave with No Baby!!
That's right, I'm officially on maternity leave....but I don't have a baby...yet! It's definitely a weird feeling. For some reason, I always thought that I would go into labor at school, and Britt would have to meet me in Cordova. I guess it's a good thing that didn't happen, just logistics-wise.
So for now, I'm just waiting...
We had our 39 week appointment on Friday. It went ok. My doctor kind of aggravated me a little bit. He wants to do another ultrasound on Wednesday to check Lucy's grown and make sure she hasn't ballooned into a giant baby in the last month (since our last u/s). To me though, it doesn't make a lot of since.
At 35 weeks, I measured 2cm ahead, so they did an u/s. She was only estimated to be in the 35th percentile (whoo hoo, no need to schedule an induction)! So, at 39 weeks, I measured 41cm (that's right, still 2cm ahead), and he wants to do another u/s. I mean, logically, couldn't we assume that she'll still be a reasonable size, and under the 50th percentile?
If she's big, he said he'd want to induce at the end of this week. The problem is that she doesn't want come out...haha. Or at least I haven't made any progress towards effacing or dilating. So an induction with none of that going on is like begging for a c-section.
And to top it all off, he induces with Cytotec....a drug that is NOT approved by the FDA for that use and carries a risk of uterine rupture. Haha, needless to say, that is NOT a risk I'm willing to take!
We'll just have to see what Wednesday's u/s will tell us. I'm praying that she'll still be the right size, and I'll be allowed to go into labor on my own. If not, Britt and I will have some hard decisions to make...
On a happier note, my house is spotless! Gotta love nesting :)
Things I'm planning on doing this week to keep me occupied:
Water aerobics with the little ladies at my gym (Monday and Friday)
Scrapbooking...working on some pre-made pages for Lucy's "first year" book
Cleaning out the air conditioner/dog food cabinet
Walking Walking Walking
Doctor on Wednesday
Picking up our Grow Alabama box on Thursday
And who knows what else the week will bring :)

38 Weeks (almost)
Tomorrow is our 38 week appointment! We're hoping that everything will still be looking good and there won't be any talk about inducing (although, I'm very ready for her to get here!).
I've found myself using Google to search "Ways to Start Labor" haha! who knew about all the old wives' tales? I've been walking regularly...about 1.75 miles a few times a week. This week has been so beautiful, so I got in 3 nice long walks.
Other ways that I might have to start trying...
Pineapple
Spicy Food
Eggplant Parmesan
Herbs (was taking these, but I was afraid it might have been affecting my blood sugar)
Castor Oil (NOT going to happen!)
