Win-Dixie Deals...

I shopped on Thursday (again) this week. That made for my 3rd trip to the grocery store. I had to go on Tuesday to buy a few things for dinner that night. And then since Win-Dixie's new sales come out on Wednesdays, I wanted to go early in "their" week. This trip was actually my worst nightmare. The deals didn't ring up right (I had bought the wrong size cereal) and then I didn't have my debit card! (Thanks to Lucy, my whole wallet had gone swimming in the dog bowl). Anyways, after going to my car to get my credit card and getting the deals straight, I think I did pretty good. Planning now to shop just on Thursdays. Total : $117.10 After sales and coupons...65.28 Savings: $51.82 And all this was free (either a meal/laundry deal or bogo): Ribs Downy Softener Downy Dryer Sheets Shout Laundry Spray Bleach Purex 3-in-1 Sample Ziplock Bags Cranberry Juice Muffin Mix Gallon of Milk Nutrigrain Bars

Eleven Months--New Pictures

Trying to "Coupon" ...

The key word here is trying, haha. My friend Elizabeth writes in her blog, The Dambro Daily about trying to spend less on groceries each week by combining sale prices + coupons. I did this a little bit back in the fall, and then just kinda quit with the move and all. But now is definitely the time (since I'm not working) that I need to learn to take advantage of these deals and be more of a savvy shopper. I totalled up how much I spend at Target, Win-Dixie, and Wal-Mart for the month of March and it was $673.50. Holy crap. This is compared with girls who are challenging themselves to spend only $25 a week on groceries. That's $100/month, people. I could at least aim for $50-$75 a week, right? I think it will be hard to be under that for the first 6 weeks or so, since this will be my first sales cycle (you can read about that on SouthernSavers). Elizabeth recommended SouthernSavers which is a website that helps you keep track of what deals are going on at your grocery store and then matches them with available manufacture coupons. I don't have any manufacture coupons yet since I haven't been getting a Sunday paper. But I did have to take a trip to Win-Dixie this morning. I was able to find two printable coupons for olive oil, and then I just shopped their store deals. This is what I got... 3lbs Bananas 2 Crates Strawberries (bogo) Tomatoes (2) 4 pk Baby Yogurt (2/$5) (4) Ears corn (1) Red Onion (2) Chicken Leg Quarter pack (bogo) (2) Boneless/Skinless Breast packs (bogo) (2) Boneless Cutlets (bogo) (1) Nilla Wafers (2) Honey Bunches of Oats (bogo) (2) Bottles EVOO (bogo + (2) $1 off coupons = $3 each) (2) Classico marinara (bogo) (2) Cans of Biscuits (2) 4pk fruit cups (4) Diced tomatoes (1) Coffee creamer (1) Cheddar Cheese block Total BEFORE sales + coupons....$130.12 AFTER...$79.55 Savings...$50.57 Not too shabby for my first week with NO circular coupons... :)
