The Sister Doodles!!
My mom and Alan's new puppies! They adopted 2 "Labradoodles" from the SOS shelter after they had to put their sweet Brutus to sleep (cancer). These dogs are so sweet and calm. They were great with Lucy and had such a good time at the park. Today was a beautiful day!!

New....
Since Lucy was a born, she has either been wearing a headband/bow or a hat. I've never had any problems keeping them in her hair. But recently she has been pulling everything off her head :(
I caught her mid blink...so she looks a little drugged!

Ugggg
I finished my Masters (Secondary Ed) degree in 2008. To teach college classes though, you have to have a total of 18 content hours. I'm taking my last class this semester and hope to apply to community colleges in the fall.
The books are killing me though! The first week we read The Good Soldier, then Brideshead Revisited, and now The Third Policeman. I actually really enjoyed Brideshead Revisited.
I have found that it helps me to download the audiobook to read along with my Kindle or paperback....Much easier to focus that way. Especially since I would rather be doing a thousand other things. The Audible download also helps me gauge how much time it will take me to do the reading for the week.

Mr. T
I swear she doesn't leave the house like this...This is a onesie that I cut the long-sleeves off so that she could wear it under a smocked outfit. She had outgrown her short-sleeve onesies from the fall, and I was in a pinch. She had it on under a dress today...
When Britt undressed her for her bath...and saw the cut off sleeves, he asked her where the rest of her "Mr. T kit" was :)

Cake...
Britt and I bought two slices of some kind of Oreo cake/pie. I don't know, but it was yummy! At first Lucy was just playing with the lid, but then I think she got a taste of either chocolate or whipped cream :) Needless to say, it was bathtime after this photo!

8 Months (late!)
With the move and the holidays, I was several days late taking Lucy's 8 month "growing" picture! I finally found my scrapbook paper and made her a new sign this morning (her old one got crumpled somehow :( ).

Stuck
We drove over to our old house to check on things. We hadn't been there since we moved right after Thanksgiving. We were a little worried about the pipes since we've had such cold weather, but everything was fine.
We did a little cleaning and filled some holes where pictures had been. We took toys for Lucy, but she was more interested in seeing what we were up to.

In...no really, IN the dishwasher
For about two weeks, Lucy has been pulling up on things. One of her favorite things to pull up on and check out is the dishwasher. Tonight, before we knew it, she had crawled INto the dishwasher and pulled up on the top rack. Guess she knew that's where her stuff is...

She's also figured out how to crawl up the stairs...

This makes me happy...
We're still getting settled in our new house. Since we're in a rental house though, it's hard to make it feel like home when we're still debating whether or not we should fully unpack. When our house sells, we hope to buy a new one here pretty quickly. I have finally, though, just decided to unpack. It's nice to see my stuff again :)
The pictures in the frames were both taken by Ann Wade Parrish. She's wonderful and has done all of our "family" pictures starting with our engagement pictures. In November she did Lucy's 6 month pictures in Hoover.

Story Time at the Library
This is the second week that we've been to story time at the library here. It's wonderful! Lucy loves it and crawls over to sit with the "big kids"... Today they did a pupet show for Polar Bear, What do you Hear? Then we picked two new books for Lucy. We checked out Cowboy and Octopus and Shel Silverstien's The Giving Tree.

It's Just a Little Hole in the Wall...
This a wall in Lucy's room :( The plumber had to get to something behind it. They're patching it tomorrow and we"ll buy some paint.

Just Hangin Around
Lucy loves her puppies. She crawls over to them anytime they're in the room. Here, she crawl right over Chloe and landed belly-up on the other side. Luckily I caught this picture before she moved...

Snow and Finger Food
It's snowing! For a while I thought that all the weathermen in Birmingham had lost their minds. Nothing was coming from the sky. But about 6:30 or so, it finally started sleeting/icing. After a pretty thick layer of ice covered the yard, the snow started. I'm not sure that we'll get the predicted 4-8", but I do hope to make a little snow something tomorrow (I doubt we'll have enough for a man...maybe a snow baby).
And, how ironic is this? We're out of milk. I went to the store yesterday...NOT to get milk and bread like every other Alabamian does when snow is forecasted, but because we genuinely need groceries. I didn't think I'd need milk though. Oh well. No Cinnamon Toast Crunch tomorrow. I'll have to settle for some oatmeal or a bagel.
In other news, we've been trying to give Lucy foods with a thicker consistency. Today I made a roast in the crockpot. So instead of her usual baby food, I lightly mashed some potatoes, carrots, and onions, and let her pick it up with her fingers.
Talk about a mess! But I think she enjoys feeding herself.

New Swing
Santa brought Lucy a swing for outside, and Britt was finally able to get it hung tonight (after 2 trips to Home Depot and one to Lowes). I think she likes it! It was SO cold though. So I ran out and snapped one picture while Britt was putting it up. Then Lucy and I went out for just a minute. She's wearing clothes, coat, fleece pants, boots, mittens, and a hat :) I also put a blanket under her because the plastic was so cold.

Phoning it in...
There were actually several things today that should have been posted for today's picture. Lucy went to story time at the library for the first time. She crawled all over the place :) I also had an appointment at the spa which was very relaxing. However....I didn't get pictures of any of these things :( We were in such a rush to get out the door this morning, that it just didn't happpen.
And this is Britt refusing to be my 7/365 :)
I do have video though of Lucy crawling! She's been teasing us for the past month or so. She's been scooting or belly crawling (and can go pretty fast!). Today, though, she was up on all fours!
The other big news here is the weather...looks like we could get anywhere between 4-8 inches of snow. Maybe we'll make a snowman with Lucy. We missed the snow here on Christmas day because we were in south Alabama for the holiday.

Lucy's Jet Pack
Since Lucy was born, Britt has been in charge of bath time. He feeds her dinner, bathes her, and gets her jams on. Then I usually nurse and rock her to sleep. It's always given me a nice break in the evenings. Most of the time I'm picking up all of her toys in the living room or straightening up her room. Sometimes I play on Facebook or check email. And occasionally I pop in to see what they're up to. (For those of you who don't know, Britt is hilarious. He's always singing some little funny song or coming up with some funny game to play). Tonight Lucy had a jet pack :)

The Monster at the End of This Book
My Bene (my dad's mom) used to read this book to us when we were little. I loved it! This summer, Lucy and I were browsing an antique store when I found a copy. I just had to buy it (this was before I saw that there was a "board book" version at Buy Buy Baby...oh well).
We've read it a few times, and every time it reminds me of my Bene and spending time with her in Greenville. This morning I read it to Lucy, and then went into the kitchen to fix my coffee. When I came back, this is what I found....
Sorry, Grover, this time you weren't the monster at the end of this book. Her name was Lucy.

Lilies
I would not say that my husband is "romantic"... he is more of a "good deeds" kinda guy when it comes to saying "I love you". He keeps my dinner warm if it's taking me longer than normal to put Lucy to bed. He does my laundry--start to finish. I put them in the hamper and find them hanging in my closet. He tucks me in if I go to bed earlier than he does. The list could go on and on.
Today, though, he brought home lilies when he ran to get milk. They're beautiful :)
